UPDATE: Covid 19 and Grading Period

Parents and Students:

I hope that everyone had a great weekend. We are fast approaching the end of 6-weeks of the 3rd grading period. We will have a progress report coming out soon. Please make sure all assignments are completed and everyone is working hard to do their best.

COVID-19 has been very active in Montgomery County and has affected College Park High School. We have seen an increase in cases over the last week and a half. As we have traced the cases, a high number of the positive cases have come from parties, sleepovers, and social gatherings outside of school. We have a few cases, during this time, that appear to have been transferred at school but not originate on campus.

Please remember, that if a student is showing any symptom of COVID-19, do not send them to school. Have the student tested and report the results to the school immediately. In addition, we ask that you limit opportunities for exposure to COVID-19.  Please do not hold parties or sleepovers. Limit exposure away from school by having any social gatherings outside and with a limited number of individuals. We need everyone to wear masks as they gather and wash their hands frequently.

We have a 4 day weekend approaching. The weather is going to be challenging and is a perfect time for families to spend time with each other. We hope that you take advantage of this time to be safe and healthy.

We need everyone’s cooperation so that we can protect the school year and the few activities that we have for the remainder of the year. Seniors, we are discussing Prom and Graduation at this time of year and making decisions. We want both events to be as normal as possible. We cannot accomplish this task at the current rate of positivity in the county and at school.

Please make sure that you are doing your part to keep our students and staff safe.

Thank you,

Mark A. Murrell, Ed.D.
